The production of our sedge mats (Suea Kok) begins with harvesting and sorting long, flexible wetland reeds.
These stalks are flattened and sun-dried to achieve strength and a golden hue.
Finally, the processed fibers are either kept natural or dyed before being hand-woven into intricate patterns to create our durable, eco-friendly SABAIMAT

Madame Sabai dedicates herself to the global promotion of Thai sedge weaving, focusing her efforts on establishing the craft as a respected international heritage. To bridge the gap between tradition and the modern world, she authored a comprehensive book detailing the technical artistry and cultural significance of the weaving process. During the realization of the book she was struck by the ductility of the iconic fiber of mattresses and decided to use it for the original cover of the book.

The artwork of a Sabai mat is a testament to organic symmetry and rhythmic patience, and the woven crafting begins: the composition starts to take shape
